The death has been announced of Chief Celestine Okobi, a politician, prominent member of the Ibusa community and a former Director of Central Bank of Nigeria.
Until his death in the early hours of the day, Chief Celestine Okobi, a community leader, known for his block industry, industrially located in his Ibusa community, was a prominent personality and captain in the Nigerian financial sector.
He was the Managing Director of Nigerian Bank of Commerce and Industry. As a politician, Pa Okobi was in the military era, the Chairman of NRC, contributing to make the politocal party reach its zenith.
The late Chief Okobi attended Offa Grammar School and later, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1958 to 1960 where he obtained his B.Sc (Hons). in Economics and Accountancy.
Although the nature of illness remains unknown as of the time of going to the press, he is understood to recently suffer health challenges leading to his demise. The Ibusa people mourn his loss.
Announcements on his funeral rites will be released by his family.
